Conditionally Accepted
The exhibition "Conditionally Accepted" is an overview of my works, aimed at gathering and summarizing a certain stage in my way of thinking about the medium. However, this is not a vision guided by the watchful and analytical eye of a critic or a curator. It is my own perspective, my "self-curation."
The exhibition space was chosen for its "lack of walls," its embedding in the surroundings, and the possibility of building the exhibition on the basis of a contrast with everyday life. I also developed an anecdotal concept for this exhibition:
From the very beginning, my works have had an identity crisis. When, at an early stage of my development, I sent my portfolio to a certain organization of photographers, I received the reply: "These are very interesting works, but could we please have something more photographic?"
Meanwhile, some time ago, in a post-opening conversation, Wojtek Beszterda recalled what Andrzej Strumiłło used to claim about photographs: "There are no bad photos, only poorly used ones." And so I thought that maybe it is all contextual, that there is always an "it depends," and that in reality, we accept everything conditionally.
Thus, I present to you a subjective, authorial overview of my works, trying not to hide the creative process, context, and technique. I hope you will help me decode this "more photographic" element; perhaps then I will submit my portfolio to them once again.
