"The Universe is under no obligation to make sense to you."

-Neil DeGrasse Tyson
The feeling of being a minor part of reality is discouraging. The awareness that we are one individual in a multi-billion-strong population of one of about 9 million species inhabiting one of hundreds of billions of worlds, in one of hundreds of billions of galaxies, in a universe that may not be the only one, is equally disheartening. We can either reject this information, fleeing into one of the belief systems, ignore it by focusing on the present day and the pleasures of existence, or try to accept it. Working through this problem may not be easy, as it requires revaluation, finding new paradigms for our lives. For some, this might involve an exceptionally difficult transformation of the personally understood sacred realm, or even its complete rejection, with no guarantee that at the end of this road lies a comfortable awareness of meaning and purpose.
